Jonathan’s Story

Jonathan came to know about SFH through the support given to him by this organization during a difficult few years in his life. As a disabled veteran, a single father, and at the time going through difficult employment changes he was unable to afford the legal help needed to overcome tremendous challenges he was facing all at once. He was struggling to find a place to rent so he could have time with his three children and was trying to navigate a family law case with no attorney. He was on the verge of being dropped from his college classes due to financial aid issues, and desired to open a business, but didn’t understand the entire process of how to get it in motion. When SFH met him, he immediately received free assistance with document preparation for his family law case and was able to resolve a lengthy court case bringing peace to his family and co-parenting needs. SFH then was able to turn their focus on guiding him through the steps needed to resolve his financial aid issues and within a few months he was able to successfully complete his degree and obtain the financial aid needed to pay for the remaining classes. As his home and educational situations improved, SFH was then able to begin assisting him with his business goals following a complete period of unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic. SFH was able to guide him through the incorporation process, licensing requirements and even spent 6 months working with him as he attained a federal disabled veteran’s status for his new small business. Within a year he was able to make enough money to overcome a period of unemployment in his life and was able to move into a larger apartment to provide beds for each of his children. He is now currently looking to expand and take over a larger corporation.
