Charmonique’s Story

Charmonique came to know of SFH through educational training sessions. As a licensed teacher she had always done her best to educate the children of South Florida. However, on a teacher’s income and a single woman, it had become increasingly difficult for her to care for her aging parents and the nieces and nephews she raised for so many years. Charmonique was looking to increase her income and find alternative ways to live a more fulfilling life despite the hardships she experienced living paycheck to paycheck. With SFH’s help she was able to revise her dated resume and received support in finding better work opportunities. Hand in hand, SFH guided Charmonique through the public school system application process and soon enough she was able to transition from an underpaid job in a private school to a better paid position in the public school system with all the benefits that come with public sector work. Today Charmonique still works with SFH and through the guidance received has successfully been able to obtain supplemental work with the County for periods of time. She is now working with SFH to find options for attaining her graduate degree and getting guidance on opportunities to get her degree paid for through grants and other forms of financial assistance.
