Happiness and Health

This evening I was thinking about the correlation between happiness and health, truth is not many people can stay happy when they are unhealthy. It is hard to make the choice to stay positive and joyful when the world around us is crashing down, when we feel stuck, and when areas of our life feel far from healthy. When our finances are unhealthy, we are sad. When our body is unhealthy, we feel sad. When our emotions are a wreck, we feel sad. When are relationships are falling apart, we feel sad. So how do you stay happy despite the hardships we face most days of our lives? The answer is in perspective. If our perspective is that this too shall pass, then we begin to feel hope and hope gives us the will to be happy, to keep going.

Sowing for Health recognizes that there is a period of waiting before the harvest. Sometimes the harvest takes a long time when we go through droughts, when we go through storms, when we go through unexpected acts of hate and aggression, but in the end, we know that all those events are just that an event, a period of time, that will cease to exist and will become a memory. We must remember that if we believe that all is lost then it will be. However, if we look at life with a glass half full perspective and always keep close to our heart that what we sow we shall reap, one day then, we can honestly believe that joy is just around the corner.

While we are in periods of emptiness, failure, and hopelessness we must keep looking for ways to regain our stability and seek out new perspectives. Happiness is not always based on the positive opportunities we are fortunate to receive throughout our lives, happiness can also be based off the act of sowing and waiting. So today, when you are at your lowest point do this, read about something you have always wanted to learn about, learn about something you have always wanted to do, do something you have always wanted to do and take one more step forward.
