Donor Support
Oftentimes donors do not realize the significant impact of even a small contribution to a rising charitable organization. The gifts received drive all aspects of programming, budgeting, and impact. The need for skilled development staff is evident in whether a nonprofit is successful or not. If you analyze the largest nonprofits in the country, you’d be amazed by how much funding they receive from donors that don’t even participate in the mission or evolvement of the organization. Over the years I have been blown away by how many six and seven figure gifts I have seen donors give to popular nonprofits, but what they don’t know is that in many instances their donation is not used to the fullest extent possible and for the most impactful reason.
Sadly, there are tons of small, starting nonprofits that don’t get funded by these donors because maybe their financial records aren’t as expansive as those other nonprofits, but the truth is these smaller nonprofits are the ones that make the most direct impact. Organizations like SOH can take a $10,000 gift and move mountains. SOH depends on donor support, but we don’t have the million-dollar development team members that can spend all day pursuing major donors and writing grants for bogus initiatives that don’t really do anything for the community, but fill the pockets of C-Suite staff at the nonprofit they work for through “releases” and “indirects” tied to their gifts. For once, wouldn’t it be great if every now and then a major donor would look at an organization such as SOH and say I am going to trust you to do something great and then see the fruits grow from that investment seed. Trust is so necessary in our world. Hard to find.
